A QoS OPTIMIZATION IN IEEE 802.11e NETWORKS USING MODIFIED EDCA TECHNIQUE

چکیده
IEEE 802.11e network standard supports the quality of service through EDCA technique. This technique does not fulfill the requirements of QoS. So in this paper, we have proposed modified EDCA technique to improve the QoS in same IEEE 802.11e networks. In this approach, we have changed Contention Window size. The proposed method is implemented in NS2 and also this should compare with conventional EDCA.

Performance Evaluation of Real-Time Application for EDCA Function in IEEE 802.11e WLAN
The IEEE 802.11 standard is a widely used base for wireless local area network (WLAN) infrastructure, because of its easy deployment. But it cannot provide QoS support for an increasing number of multimedia applications. With deployment of WLAN, the ability of the IEEE802.11 standard to support multimedia applications with high quality of service (QoS) requirements has increased. This paper eva...
متن کاملA Fuzzy Logic Approach for Adjusting The Contention Window Size in IEEE 802.11e Wireless Ad Hoc Networks
Quality of Service (QoS) of IEEE 802.11e is currently under research for the upcoming multimedia applications over broadband wireless networks. IEEE 802.11e is a contention based channel access function that uses the enhanced distributed channel access (EDCA) techniques. EDCA statically resets the Contention Window (CW) after each successful transmission. This article discusses a fuzzy logic ap...
متن کاملA simple recursive scheme for adjusting the contention window size in IEEE 802.11e wireless ad hoc networks
The IEEE 802.11e standard has been introduced recently for providing Quality of Service (QoS) capabilities in the emerging wireless local area networks. This standard introduces a contention window based Enhanced Distributed Channel Access (EDCA) technique that provides a prioritized traffic to guarantee the minimum bandwidth needed for time critical applications. However, the EDCA technique re...
متن کاملThroughput Analysis Model for IEEE 802.11e EDCA with Multiple Access Categories
IEEE 802.11e standard has been specified to support differentiated quality of service (QoS), one of the critical issues on the conventional IEEE 802.11 wireless local area networks (WLANs). Enhanced Distributed Channel Access (EDCA) is the fundamental and mandatory contention-based channel access method of IEEE 802.11e, and delivers traffic based on differentiated Access Categories (ACs). A gen...
متن کاملQoS protection for IEEE 802.11E in WLAN with shared EDCA and DCF access
The next deployments of IEEE 802.11 WLAN will involve the coexistence of the legacy best effort stations and the new recently standardised QoS-aware stations in QoS Basic Service Set (QBSS). However, if no control is applied to the legacy stations, this coexistence may deteriorate QoS support provided by the new IEEE 802.11e standard. In this paper the influence of IEEE 802.11b DCF stations on ...
